Check out the third stat below: 72% of U.S. workers strongly or somewhat agree to the statement, “I would be more productive if I didn’t have to switch back and forth between applications to get my work done.” That’s exactly the problem we’re trying to solve here at VoxOx– we want to the ease communication overload.

Last week, I gave a talk at eComm America 2011, a premier emerging technology conference held in San Francisco, CA. The event was very interesting. Imagine a room with hundreds of seasoned technology leaders and educators from brands like Google to Skype to Microsoft to MIT to UC Berkeley, all gathered together to discuss hot industry topics.

Ever wondered what what a video call will be like in 2025? Will there be facial recognition technology that interprets emoticons in video to text? Or meta data that describes exactly what you’re trying to say? Or real-time text suggestions that impact how you speak with other parties? Today, our very own Rob Lewis, VP of product management at Telcentris (the creators of VoxOx), will speak at eComm America 2011, a key communications industry event held in San Francisco June 27-29, 2011 to discuss predictions on the future of communications, addressing ways that communications technology is evolving and what direction we’re headed in with respect to innovation in our field.

A few weeks ago, Skype suspended their online numbers in Brazil. This was said to be a temporary arrangement; however, we have not seen the numbers become available yet. So, we wanted to share some helpful tips on how folks in Brazil (and 45 other countries/territories) can use VoxOx in combination with the free iNum numbers we provide to receive free calls on your desktop from any phone. This means that not only do you get calls for free, but also that friends and family who call YOU from landlines, mobiles, etc. pay a local rate in these 45 regions.

We kicked off 2011 with the launch of a fresh new look for our VoxOx brand, including our new logo, VoxOx UI redesign and a new VoxOx.com. It’s all been very well received, and now, in line with our new brand direction, we’re giving a new homepage a try.

PC Mag featured VoxOx as one of five free services in the “VoIP and conferencing” category, which also includes our competitor, Skype.

We’ve just released a new VoxOx build (2.5.2) with a number of usability improvements — 80+ to be specific. You’ll notice the enhancements are in areas of stability, client responsiveness, connectivity, and general user experience.
