5 Ways to Score an Amazing 2010 World Cup Experience Through Voxox

Posted by Tristan Barnum on Jun 23, 2010

It’s that time again – when the best and brightest soccer talent on the PLANET duke it out for global bragging rights…. it’s the World Cup! Get ready to wave your nation’s flag and wear your nation’s colors. And while you’re at it, why not show your World Cup pride through Voxox?  There are so many ways to do this, but we’ll just go with my favorites:

1) Update your global status to let everything know your team scored

When your team scores you have about a second to react before the moment is gone. Just imagine yourself trying to post your “WE OWN YOU BRAZIL” on your Facebook, Twitter, AIM, etc.  By the time you’re done, the other team may have scored, and that’s just embarrassing. With Voxox, you can update all your networks with one click. Just go to the status bar, bang out your best heckle and enter. Takes 2 seconds and your friends know who’s boss.

2) Use the Universal Translator to gloat to your friends in their language

Talking smack about other teams is fun, but what about talking international smack?  Not so fun when the other person doesn’t understand what you’re saying. Well, luckily we have just the thing – with the Voxox Universal Translator feature, you just type your...er... feelings… in the Voxox chat window

Telcentris is a Finalist in The American Business Awards

Posted by Tristan Barnum on May 19, 2010

You only hope that when you work as hard as we do around here, that someone out there notices.  Of course we do it “all” for our users, but it’s pretty cool (ok, it’s downright awesome) when you’re also recognized by others in the industry… say the very prestigious American Business Awards, for example!

TelCentris was just selected as a finalist for “Most Innovative Company of the Year” in The American Business Awards, a.k.a. “The Stevies,” and we’re thrilled!

2,700 entries from organizations of all sizes and in virtually every industry were submitted for consideration in more than 40 categories, so you can imagine our excitement to be in the finals.  Last year, Voxox won in the “Best New Product or Service” category at The American Business Awards, so we’re crossing our fingers for TelCentris this year!

Stay tuned and we’ll update you when the winners are announced in June at a big event in NYC.

SDBJ Names Voxox CTO Kevin Hertz as One of Top IT Executives of the Year

Posted by Tristan Barnum on May 12, 2010

CrunchGear referred to the Voxox team as a “group of voice networking ninjas,” and leading this “ninja pack” is a highly technical CTO who routinely thinks out of the box – his name is Kevin Hertz.

It's Kevin’s birthday today, and what better birthday present can a guy get than to have his hard work and dedication acknowledged?

Late last week, the third annual
San Diego Business Journal IT Executive of the Year Awards event recognized the most outstanding Information Technology executives who work in San Diego County, and for the second year in a row, Kevin was selected as one of the finalists. Nominees were submitted by their fellow co-workers, which just goes to show how much we all think of Kevin around here.

Mom Deserves the Best! Five Ways to Wish Mom a Happy Mother's Day

Posted by Tristan Barnum on May 07, 2010

Most moms “get” technology these days. While they prefer a good old fashioned greeting card, they’re just happy to hear from their babies, any way that communication comes. A lot of moms, young and old, are now up to date with the Internet – my mom is almost 75 and uses email regularly.

Sending mom a link to Voxox will give her even more access to keep in touch with you on a regular basis. When she sees all the possible ways you can send her your love, it will make her day. So, why not start with Mother’s Day?

Here are five ways you can wish her a Happy Mother’s Day via Voxox:

1.    Call her on-the-cheap

My mom’s in Canada and she thinks I spend big bucks on phone bills (makes her love me even more). What she doesn’t know is that it costs 1 penny per minute to call Canada from Voxox!   Plus, when you sign up for Voxox in the U.S. or Canada, the first $1 worth of Voxox credit is on us*, so you can call a bunch of places worldwide for super cheap

For Power Users Only! Using Voxox with Your Existing Mobile Number

Posted by Tristan Barnum on May 04, 2010

By now you probably know that when you sign up for Voxox, you get your very own free phone number right along with it. Now most of us love this because with Voxox’s Internet-based number, you can receive free phone calls from anywhere in the world; make dirt cheap international calls and even cheaper domestic calls (1 cent per minute in U.S./Canada);  and do two-way worldwide texting and fax.

However, some folks would rather not give out a new phone number to people, and we here at Voxox are cool with that. So, our trusted tech guys gave it some thought and found a way for you to keep your existing cell phone number and still be able to use some of the cool Voxox perks. It works by forwarding your cell phone to Voxox through a special set of instructions (provided below). Doing so will enable you to:

    • Screen the call through the Voxox Personal Assistant, which will ask the caller’s name
    • Send the caller to voicemail, and let you Eavesdrop™ on the message as its being left – you can pick up at any time, just like those retro answering machines from the 90s!
    • Record the call on-demand (*1 to start/stop recording), transfer the call to another phone (*2), and start a conference call with up to 20 people! (press *3 to add friends to your call)
    • Use Voxox voicemail, which lets you access your phone messages both via phone and online – this one’s good for folks who misplace their cell phone regularly and need to access their voicemails

Sold yet? Check out the instructions below, and remember, this is for Voxox power users!

Say Happy Earth Day With a Fax from Voxox!

Posted by Tristan Barnum on Apr 22, 2010

Faxing used to be the best way to get a document to someone in a hurry (bypassing snail mail) but you still had to have a fax machine and a phone number.  Now there are many fax options available online that allow you to send and receive from your computer; however, most of them take advantage of the fact that you would normally pay for a phone line and they charge accordingly -- anywhere from $5.95 per month to $19.95 per month, plus per minute charges.

Then, in walks Voxox. From your Voxox account, receiving faxes is FREE and you pay Voxox's cheap per minute rates for the use of outbound faxing. For example, U.S. and Canada per minute rates are only 1 cent per minute, so, it will cost you something like half a penny to fax one page within the U.S. and Canada. How cool is that?

And, let’s not forget that it's Earth Day today. We can contribute to saving trees if we simply reduce the amount of paper used by regular faxes.  With Voxox you can stop “printing” on your end, plugging into a machine, sending over a phone line, and having it “printed” on the other end.
