Erica's Musings: Best of BlogHer '11

Posted by Tristan Barnum on Aug 09, 2011

When we heard that BlogHer '11, a three-day blogging event for women online, was being held in San Diego this year, two of us ladies on the Voxox marketing team signed up for a day pass. "What types of bloggers might attend? Would I meet valuable contacts? Will I walk away with useful information?" were only a few of the questions soaring back and forth between my ears. As it turns out, all this contemplation was in vain...

Telepathy by Machine: Fact or Fiction in 2025?

Posted by Tristan Barnum on Jul 07, 2011

Last week, I gave a talk at eComm America 2011, a premier emerging technology conference held in San Francisco, CA. The event was very interesting. Imagine a room with hundreds of seasoned technology leaders and educators from brands like Google to Skype to Microsoft to MIT to UC Berkeley, all gathered together to discuss hot industry topics. A number of these experts were invited to present on various concepts to spur further discussion. I was among these speakers and presented a glimpse of what the future of communications might look like in 2025.

Living in a 3D World - CES 2011 Observations

Posted by Tristan Barnum on Jan 14, 2011

As we settled back into "normal" routines this week, we had time to reflect on our observations of the Consumer Electronic Show (CES) 2011. And while there was a plethora of gadgets and all kinds of cool sites to be seen, two things jumped out at us as most prominent: tablets and 3D. Our Voxox alien even got in on the 3D fun at the Kodak booth. The booth had a section of their booth where visitors could pose in a 3D world and view their picture with 3D glasses.

Our alien was so popular that passers by couldn't help but notice our fun loving marketing effort. Check out our shout out below from CarWoo.com in her post "What a Start-up Could Learn from Three Days at CES":

"...I thought this promotion was a unique way to keep Voxox on the minds of CES attendees throughout the show. And the cost of an alien suit, fliers, and a few iPhones – probably not nearly the amount many other companies spent on their booth space alone...."

What did you think of the 3D related products at CES this year? Stay tuned for our tablet thoughts!
