Telcentris is a Finalist in The American Business Awards

Posted by Tristan Barnum on May 19, 2010

You only hope that when you work as hard as we do around here, that someone out there notices.  Of course we do it “all” for our users, but it’s pretty cool (ok, it’s downright awesome) when you’re also recognized by others in the industry… say the very prestigious American Business Awards, for example!

TelCentris was just selected as a finalist for “Most Innovative Company of the Year” in The American Business Awards, a.k.a. “The Stevies,” and we’re thrilled!

2,700 entries from organizations of all sizes and in virtually every industry were submitted for consideration in more than 40 categories, so you can imagine our excitement to be in the finals.  Last year, Voxox won in the “Best New Product or Service” category at The American Business Awards, so we’re crossing our fingers for TelCentris this year!

Stay tuned and we’ll update you when the winners are announced in June at a big event in NYC.

Voxox Gets Recognition From PC Magazine And Heavy Reading Top 50

Posted by Tristan Barnum on Apr 12, 2010

Well here we go again… an award here, an award there – a list here, a list there…..it just keeps getting better and better!

If you’ve been keeping track of the Voxox Blog, you’ll know that the list of awards is growing.  Now, to add another feather (or two) to our proverbial caps, Voxox was named to PC Magazine’s prestigious annual list of “Best Free Software” for 2010.  According to PC Magazine, the 2010 list consists of 196 programs that “cost nothing but will make your computing life richer -- all while keeping your wallet fat.”

Believe me, in these economic times it’s pretty tough to maintain a “fat” wallet and we’re very happy to be able to help with that!

"Look familiar?"

We’ve also been named to the top 50 list of the most disruptive Voice over IP (VoIP) service providers by analyst firm Heavy Reading in the report titled, “Disruptive VoIP Services: What Carriers Need to Know,” by analyst Robert Poe.

Voxox Named "Best Software / Service" at CES 2010 by Computer Shopper

Posted by Tristan Barnum on Jan 22, 2010

If you’ve been reading the Voxox Blog lately, you’ve probably noticed a few posts about our adventures at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas earlier this month. (That’s the event at which we launched the second version of the virtual Personal Assistant!) Just when we thought we’d retired the topic, we got word about something very cool…

Voxox has been selected as the CES 2010 Editors’ Choice for “Best Software / Service” by Computer Shopper!

The Computer Shopper editorial team met individually with more than 60 companies at CES and selected the top contender in 10 categories. Other winning brands in the “Best of CES” Editors’ Choice include Blackberry (RIM), Lenovo and Intel. Computer Shopper is a resource for millions of online consumers for expert, labs-based reviews of technology products. It was originally published by CNET Networks Inc., and is currently published by SX2 Media Labs LLC.

Voxox Personal Assistant Version 2 Just Launched at CES!

Posted by Tristan Barnum on Jan 07, 2010

We all like to be in control, right? If you’ve been reading our blog here, you’ve seen that it’s kind of a running theme for us. We want our users to stop feeling inundated by their various phones, email accounts, instant messaging accounts, etc., and start feeling in control of all of their gadgets. Sort of like bringing the communication mountain to you, instead of trekking up that communication mountain like Tenzing Norgay cursing Sir Edmund Hillary while….Ok…sorry, this metaphor got away from me. I digress.

With the newest beta release of Voxox we have a way for you, our users, to really manage your phone calls, emails…everything, and we even give you a nice little electronic person to do it for you -- it’s called the Voxox Personal Assistant, and it can do a million things (ok, maybe not a million...but a lot) to help you get everything in order. For example, it lets you design and customize the calling experience for each contact. This means that you tell your assistant to send your boss to your work line, where he hears a ring tone you set for him, with a highly professional voicemail that he’ll hear when you purposely don’t take his/her call. Your best friend on the other hand hears a different ring tone, a highly inappropriate voicemail greeting, and can be linked directly to your cell (if you want) or all of your phones at once. Two totally different calling experiences, one number. To borrow a phrase from the tech world, that’s the real “meat and potatoes” of the feature. (Actually, I don’t think that’s a tech term at all).

Below are a few things in the Voxox Personal Assistant that will let you be the boss of your communications instead of the other way around.

Voxox Turns One -- Happy Birthday Big Fella!

Posted by Tristan Barnum on Nov 03, 2009

You may not have realized it, but as you signed into Voxox today, you were doing so with a service that is exactly one year old. That's right, Voxox went live on Nov. 3, 2008.

To celebrate this momentous occasion, we wanted to raise a virtual glass of champagne, or sparkling cider if you prefer, in your honor and personally thank all of our beta users for their support and participation over the last 365 days. We certainly have come a long way!

To give you an idea of our evolution, I wanted to show you a screenshot of what Voxox looked like upon launch, and what it looks like now (well, I guess you already know that).

One year ago ...

The Voxox User Interface Upon Launch

... and today.

The Voxox UI Today

In addition to the obvious difference in color, Voxox has been bolstered with an array of new features and functionality that -- taken as a whole -- you can't find anywhere else in the industry. No other service unifies eight major communication channels -- from voice to social networking -- into a single interface.

You can check out many of our bigger milestones -- the launch of Voxox 2, winning a Stevie's Award for best new product, our new unlimited monthly calling plans -- by visiting our press room

Also, if you haven't taken our user survey, please do! We would love to know what you think of our beta service and how we can improve it even further. With your help, our second birthday will be even better than the first.
