Voxox just announced that its virtual PBX service Cloud Phone is now going to include free SMS with all Cloud Phone subscription plans. The major virtual PBX players typically do not offer two-way texting for free within their monthly calling plans. When I was a kid I hated sharing. I was always happy sharing the other kids’ toys, dolls or games, but when it came to my stuff — forget about it! Where this attitude came from is anybody’s guess. My family was always generous. My friends were quick to offer anything. But when I was called upon to share, I suddenly “heard my mother calling,” gathered up my things and took off. What a brat, right?
It’s somewhat unsettling. As Baby-Boomers reach retirement age and Generation X’ers are starting families and settling down, Millennials — babies who were born what seems like yesterday — have reached adulthood. This means they are about to take over the world!

Science is a search for answers. In my case, answering questions I didn’t even ask, let alone understand. Take Professor Stephen Hawking, recently portrayed in the film, “The Theory of Everything.” Professor Hawking states that he has been searching for “a single mathematical equation that will explain the entire universe.” I’m no Einstein, but that sounds like an elegant way of responding to a million questions.

All those apps
I was getting thoroughly irritated. Whenever I tried to take a photo with my mobile phone, I got the following message:
Storage Almost Full
You can manage your storage in Settings.
Every. Single. Time. By the time I opened Settings, discovered I didn’t know what to do there, then went to my photos, deleted 50 or 100 of those, then back to my camera, the moment was long gone. (None of this made any difference, by the way. As soon as I went to take a photo, I got the Storage Almost Full warning again. Garrrr!)

Recently someone I know (not me, I swear) was dumped in a text message. I think she was more shocked about how he broke up with her than she was about the actual breakup, and after seeing his cowardly approach, she and I agreed she was well rid of him. It was the equivalent of the Sex and the City episode where Berger breaks up with Carrie on a Post-It note.

The selfie has gotten a bad rap. Blame it on the “sexters” or the Narcissists. Personally, I blame the hipsters, who hate everything. You could also blame it on the nuts who take selfies with a homeless person, then text it to their friends. Can someone please tell me what’s funny about that?

When you need to share a special moment, do you instantly start to compose a text message or do you go straight to your dialpad and make a call? A recent survey done by research firm ORC International[1] shows that over 70 percent of adults prefer voice calling to texting when sharing important news.
